Saltillo, Coahuila (October 14th, 2025).- The Coahuila Civil Protection Undersecretary anticipates a markedly colder winter season compared to previous years. Following the passage of the fourth cold front of the season, Ramiro Durán García, Undersecretary of Civil Protection in Coahuila, warned that the intensity of the temperature drops will progressively increase.
“Some meteorologists tell us it will be a colder winter than previous years. We will have around 52 cold fronts, and they will conclude on May 15th of next year,” the Undersecretary emphasized.
Given this forecast, Durán García indicated that a protocol is already in place with the state’s 38 municipalities, as well as the collaboration of the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena) and the National Guard. The official emphasized that shelters have been set up, assuring that “every municipality, no matter how small, has one.” A protocol is in place to assist people who require shelter in all cases.
The Undersecretary noted that cities with larger populations, such as Saltillo, Torreón, Acuña, and Monclova, have several shelters managed at the municipal level, with constant support from the State.
Durán García noted that the Civil Protection area participates weekly in the State Security Roundtable, chaired by the Secretary of Government, Oscar Pimentel. This roundtable brings together Sedena (National Security Agency), the National Guard, the Migration Institute, the Ministry of Welfare, the State Attorney General’s Office, and various inter-institutional and federal agencies. The goal is to maintain coordination with each municipality.
“In fact, we even have WhatsApp chats, where we communicate with all the municipalities every day, and if necessary, we always make ourselves available to the mayors, and above all, we have great support from Governor Manolo Jiménez,” he concluded.
