Throughout October 2025, the iconic Museo Frida Kahlo, also known as La Casa Azul, in Coyoacán, Mexico City, is offering a vibrant lineup of art workshops and cultural experiences designed to immerse visitors in the spirit of Frida Kahlo’s legacy. These workshops are part of the museum’s seasonal programming leading up to Día de los Muertos, blending creativity, history, and personal expression.
Among the highlights are:
- “Self-Portrait and Identity” Workshop: Participants explore Frida’s use of self-portraiture to express emotion and identity, creating their own mixed-media portraits inspired by her techniques.
- “Alebrijes and Imagination”: A hands-on session where attendees sculpt and paint fantastical creatures, drawing from Mexican folk art and Kahlo’s surrealist influences.
- “Textile Narratives”: Focused on traditional embroidery and fabric collage, this workshop invites guests to tell personal stories through textile art, echoing Kahlo’s love for indigenous clothing and symbolism.
- “Noche Azul” Sessions: Held on Thursday evenings (October 2, 9, and 16), these extended hours include live music, guided tours, and mini-workshops under the stars.
Workshops are open to all ages and skill levels, with materials provided. Advance registration is recommended due to limited space.
The museum also continues its “Noche de Museos” program on the last Wednesday of the month (October 30), offering extended hours and special activities.
La Casa Azul’s October workshops reflect Frida Kahlo’s enduring influence on art, culture, and self-expression, inviting visitors to engage with her world in deeply personal and creative ways.
