Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD Americas, Europe, and MEA, visited Monterrey to celebrate a landmark moment for the Chinese electric vehicle giant: record-breaking sales in Mexico, the launch of its premium brand Denza, and the announcement of scholarships for young Mexican talent.
During a high-profile event at BYD’s Gonzalitos showroom in September this year, Li praised the performance of BYD Mexico, led by Jorge Vallejo, noting that the company had surpassed 80,000 units sold in the first half of 2025—a goal originally set for the entire year. “Mexico is now a global reference point for electric mobility,” Li declared, highlighting the country’s strategic importance in BYD’s international expansion.
As part of BYD’s commitment to social impact, Li unveiled a scholarship program for Mexican youth, aimed at fostering innovation and technical expertise in sustainable transportation. The initiative will support students in engineering, design, and renewable energy fields, in partnership with local universities and the private sector.
The event also marked the official arrival of Denza, BYD’s premium brand developed in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz. The first Denza showroom in the Americas opened in San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León, showcasing models like the Denza Z9 GT, a luxury electric wagon designed to compete with top-tier European brands.
Li emphasized Monterrey’s role as a hub of innovation, calling it “the Silicon Valley of Mexico.” She also introduced BYD’s megawatt fast-charging systems, now being implemented in Mexico, which can recharge electric vehicles faster than traditional gasoline refueling.
With strong sales, educational investment, and luxury expansion, BYD’s footprint in Mexico continues to grow—driven by a vision of accessible, sustainable, and high-tech mobility.
