Tabasco State authorities anticipate the overflow of several rivers due to heavy rains.
The rains recorded in northwestern Chiapas have kept the levels of the Mezcalapa, Samaria, and Carrizal rivers high, which could significantly impact communities and agricultural areas.
Tabasco Civil Protection authorities issued an alert stating that between Friday night and early Saturday morning, the SamarÃa River is at risk of flooding in the municipalities of Nacajuca, Jalpa de Méndez, and, to a lesser extent, Cunduacán.
The agency emphasized that, depending on rainfall patterns, the rivers could experience a decrease by Sunday, October 5th, or Monday, October 6th.
The statement specifies that the areas most at risk of flooding are pastures and agricultural land, although impacts on neighboring communities along these tributaries have not been ruled out.
Likewise, a rise in the level of the Mezcalapa River is expected along the Cárdenas and Huimanguillo riverbanks, which could cause erosion along its banks.
Authorities recommend that the population remain vigilant in areas that have previously experienced erosion problems and pay attention to warnings issued through the official Civil Protection websites.
