Are Mexican Politicians Running Cartels?
A former government official is arrested on charges of operating a criminal network.

Sept. 21, 2025.- Hernán Bermúdez Requena fled Mexico in January. A month later, authorities issued an arrest warrant for the alleged mob boss, and his capture became a priority for Mexican intelligence. Interpol issued a red notice for him in July.
Paraguay worked with Mexico to track down the fugitive in a house not far from the capital, Asunción. He was arrested on Sept. 13. If he fought extradition he could have indefinitely delayed his return to face justice. Neither country wanted that. So Paraguay simply expelled him, putting him on a plane to Mexico.
