On the morning of September 7, 2025, authorities in Fresnillo, Zacatecas carried out a coordinated operation that led to the rescue of 16 women who were victims of human trafficking. The action was spearheaded by the Fiscalía General de Justicia del Estado (FGJE) following two anonymous citizen reports that alerted officials to suspicious activities in local hotels.

The first raid took place at Hotel Morales, where investigators detained 10 men and one woman and rescued eight victims, all of whom were adults. The second operation occurred shortly after at Hotel Primavera, resulting in the arrest of five additional suspects and the liberation of nine more women, including one of foreign nationality, whose country of origin was not disclosed.

Both hotels are located in Fresnillo’s central zone, an area increasingly scrutinized for illicit activity. The operations were conducted under judicial orders and were closely monitored by institutions within the Mesa Estatal de Construcción de Paz, ensuring safety and procedural integrity throughout the day.

Authorities confirmed that the victims were being exploited under the guise of prostitution and were held against their will. The detainees are now facing charges related to human trafficking, organized crime, and sexual exploitation.

The FGJE emphasized the importance of public collaboration in combating trafficking, urging citizens to continue reporting suspicious behavior. “The culture of denunciation is essential to dismantling networks that prey on vulnerable individuals,” the agency stated in its official bulletin.

This rescue operation marks a significant step in the fight against human trafficking in Zacatecas, shedding light on the urgent need for vigilance, legal action, and victim support across Mexico.
