This year alone, 2.5 million units have been introduced, most of them violating the decree itself, and will therefore be removed from circulation.
“Imported” cars brought into the country after the decree’s date, as well as Asian and European cars, as well as salvage cars, will be recalled. Those detected in states other than the one where they were registered will also be impounded.
The economically and environmentally harmful program was implemented by AMLO for electoral purposes, which is why all kinds of abuses were tolerated.

Companies have issued liability insurance, but in several incidents, American subsidiaries have refused to recognize the claims because the vehicles are illegal under US tax laws.
Those seeking to import vehicles before the decree is suspended are advised not to fall prey to “panic imports,” as they will only lose their money.
