The “Palabra Cumplida” (Kept Word) program seeks to strengthen the cleanliness and sustainability of the destination; residents and businesses join the environmental strategy.
Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo, delivered more than 400 eco-friendly containers as part of the “Palabra Cumplida” program, with the goal of improving waste management and maintaining the cleanliness of the municipality.
President Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz emphasized that this action is part of her administration’s 50 priorities and Axis 4, Green Agenda, of the 2024-2027 Municipal Development Plan.
In total, 360 medium-sized containers of 260 liters and 50 large containers of 1,100 liters were delivered, with an investment of 2 million pesos from the Environmental Sanitation Trust.
The containers were placed in all neighborhoods of the municipal seat, the Leona Vicario borough, and the tourist area, reinforcing the work of the Red Ambiental company and the Public Services staff.
Blanca Merari explained that Puerto Morelos is recognized as a green municipality, with large conservation and natural spaces that require a balance between development and environmental protection.
The initiative seeks to consolidate a culture of environmental responsibility among citizens, students, and business owners by promoting cleanliness and environmental care.
The project also has the collaboration of the hotel and business sectors, as well as schools, which promote environmental education among young people.
The delivery of containers strengthens the sustainability and clean image of the tourist destination, ensuring that the community actively participates in keeping public spaces clean.
Among those present at the event were municipal authorities, business owners from the hotel and restaurant sector, and citizens committed to the environment, reaffirming the joint work for a more orderly and sustainable Puerto Morelos.
