The attack, which left three dead and more than ten injured, occurred in the midst of the patron saint festival in honor of the Virgin of San Juan.

Approximately 300 people demonstrated on the morning of Friday, August 22, in the municipality of San Miguel de Allende to demand greater security in light of the recent violent events that have affected the community.

The peaceful but emotionally charged march passed through the streets of the historic center, considered a World Heritage Site, and was accompanied by signs, banners, and slogans, such as “San Miguel rises in Peace, we need peace.”

The protesters wore black in mourning after the massacre that occurred on August 17, during a patron saint festival, which left three people dead and 19 injured.

This incident caused consternation in the community, which today unanimously raised its voice to demand justice and concrete action from the authorities.

The death toll has increased in recent days, following the death of 17-year-old Luis Ángel, one of the injured who was enjoying the festivities.

This brings the death toll to three in San Miguel de Allende.

Local and state authorities have been urged by citizens to strengthen surveillance, ensure the protection of those attending public events, and provide results on the progress of the investigations related to this attack.
