In a deeply troubling case that has shaken the community of Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, two teenagers—Xandro Jesús Torres Procopio (17) and Pablo Figueroa Martínez (21)—were reported missing on June 26, 2025, after allegedly being detained by municipal police officers in Cabo San Lucas. Their disappearance sparked outrage and a massive search effort led by family members and local collectives.

On July 29, 2025, six officers from the Immediate Reaction Unit of the Los Cabos Municipal Police were arrested following a coordinated operation by the Baja California Sur State Attorney General’s Office and the Mexican Navy. The officers—Alejandra “N”, Ramón “N”, Sergio “N”, Jesús “N”, José “N”, and Pedro “N”—are accused of participating in the forced disappearance of the two young men.

Search Intensifies, Bodies Found

The vehicle used by Xandro and Pablo was later discovered abandoned in the Migriño area, prompting intensified search efforts. Although authorities have not officially confirmed the discovery of their bodies, local sources and activists report that the teens were found deceased in early August, marking a tragic end to a case that has gripped the region.

Community Demands Justice

The case is unprecedented in Los Cabos, where police officers are now facing formal judicial proceedings for forced disappearance. Families and activists continue to demand transparency, accountability, and justice. The silence of local officials, including Mayor Cristian Agúndez Gómez, has only fueled public frustration.

This tragedy highlights the urgent need for police reform and stronger protections against abuse of authority in Mexico’s coastal regions.
