Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas. – The Secretary of Public Works of the Government of the State of Tamaulipas, Pedro Cepeda Anaya, reported on Tuesday, July 15, that the progress of the procedures for the project to expand the concession for the Nuevo Laredo III World Trade Bridge is 90%.
He noted that they held a meeting in the south of the state with the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation, Jesús Esteva Medina, who confirmed the Federal Government’s willingness to authorize the concession for an additional 30 years.
Cepeda Anaya noted that the current concession was granted on July 30, 1996, and expires in July 2026. Therefore, the State Government has promoted technical and legal efforts to ensure the operational continuity and modernization of this key infrastructure for international trade.
“The SICT has already issued instructions to authorize the concession expansion; the corresponding document is currently being validated. The “Second Modification and Restatement of the Concession Title” will then be submitted, which will allow progress to be made on the executive expansion project, as well as its construction,” he explained.
He emphasized that the international bridge currently has eight lanes, with two more lanes to be added, and an additional body built, bringing the total to 18 lanes connecting Mexico, the United States, and Canada, consolidating Tamaulipas as the most important strategic hub for foreign trade.
