On Wednesday, July 23, 2025, Ulises “N,” second-in-command of La Barredora and one of the main drivers of violence in that state and Tabasco, was arrested in the state of Jalisco, sources within the Mexican Government’s Security Cabinet confirmed.

Ulises “N” is identified as a former federal police officer who was Hernán “N”‘s right-hand man within the La Barredora criminal group. He is alleged to be responsible for the riots that occurred on the night of December 22, 2023, in Tabasco, known as “Black Friday.”

The death toll that day was at least 15 cars burned in different parts of the state, as well as three inmates killed during the riots reported in the prisons of Villahermosa, Huimanguillo, and Comalcalco.

The head of the Mexican Government’s Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, stated that the former head of the corporation in Tabasco, Hernán “N,” is not the only target of the La Barredora criminal group.

García Harfuch said that, in collaboration with the Tabasco State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), they are working to locate these individuals.
