The offender was arrested and must now pay a fine of nearly 7,000 pesos for illegal entry, assaulting the officer, lack of a license plate, and failure to obey instructions.

A motorist who noticed that a General Coordination of Road Safety officer was in danger of being hit by a driver who illegally entered the queue leading to the Córdova-Américas International Bridge intervened promptly, crossing his vehicle to prevent the traffic officer from being hit.

The incident was recorded by another driver and shared on social media. The recording shows both the moment the driver failed to stop her car despite the officer’s instructions and the moment the driver reprimanded her for her actions.

The incident occurred this Thursday at approximately 11:40 a.m. at the intersection of Universidad and Pérez Serna avenues, according to the General Coordination of Road Safety.

The officer from Unit 938 was on duty at the scene to prevent unauthorized entry into the bridge lane when a Toyota Prius with foreign license plates was reported by other drivers for cutting in front of the bridge.

When the officer instructed her to move out of the lane, the driver ignored it and continued driving illegally. She was told again to move out, but when she did, she continued toward the bridge using the opposite lane.

It was then that the officer got out of the vehicle and cut in front of the driver, who, despite the instructions, did not stop, nearly hitting the officer.

It was then that a driver who was in line heading toward El Paso, Texas, stepped out of line and placed his vehicle between the officer and the offender’s car, forcing her to stop.

In the video, the man can be heard yelling at the driver, “Respect the officers, this is not your territory.”

The woman was identified as Fabiana Estefanía. At the time of the arrest, she had no outstanding charges and was not intoxicated. However, her actions resulted in a fine of 6,869 pesos for the following reasons: illegal entry, physical or verbal assault of the officer, lack of a license plate, and failure to comply with instructions.
