IFT Fines Carlos Slimâs Company for Monopolistic Practices
The Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) fined Carlos Slimâs telephone company 1.783 billion pesos for alleged monopolistic practices.
The instituteâs resolution indicates that the reason for the fine was âthe granting of incentives and benefits to Oxxo and IMMEX, as well as an indirect distribution channel, on the condition that they not sell SIM cards of economic agents that would affect Telcel nationwide.â
This is believed to be the result of an investigation initiated in 2021 for alleged practices related to the distribution and sale of SIM cards in various convenience stores.
