Guadalajara Official Admits to Euthanizing a Dog on Social Media as part of a Santeria ceremony.
Naomi Sofía Figueroa Álvarez, an official with the Guadalajara City Council, sparked outrage online when she admitted to sacrificing a dog as part of a Santeria practice to remove obstacles from her path.
Following the viralization of the live video, users called on authorities to punish the woman. Although she cited religious reasons, Jalisco law does not tolerate animal abuse under any circumstances.
Shortly after, the Guadalajara City Council issued a statement clarifying that Figueroa Álvarez was a temporary worker and her contract ended on May 31 of this year.
