Cobach Sonora Student Will Represent Mexico at the Ibero-American Physics Olympiad

Hermosillo, Sonora.- Alán Flores Alaniz, a student at the Colegio de Bachilleres del Estado de Sonora (Cobach), was selected to be part of the team that will represent Mexico at the 2025 Ibero-American Physics Olympiad.

The student from Cobach’s Caborca ​​campus, who won a bronze medal at the 2024 National Physics Olympiad, was selected to participate with the Mexican team in the 29th edition of the Ibero-American Physics Olympiad, thanks to his results in the qualifying rounds and his performance demonstrated in prior training.

Rodrigo Arturo Rosas Burgos, general director of Cobach, highlighted that Flores Alaniz obtained second place in Physics, as well as first place in Mathematics, in the 54th Regional Physics and Mathematics Competition, organized by the University of Sonora (Unison), which was held to form the Sonora Pre-selection for the National Physics Olympiad.

“I inform you that, based on the results of the two Olympiad selections and your performance in training, you have been selected to be part of the national team that will represent our country in the 29th Ibero-American Physics Olympiad (OIBF) 2025,” Rodrigo Pelayo Ramos, coordinator of the Physics Olympiad, informed Alán Flores via email.

Pelayo Ramos mentioned in his letter that the date, location, and execution of the Ibero-American Physics Olympiad, which is planned to be held in Mexico City, Puebla, have yet to be confirmed.
