On March 26, 2025, the collective “Hasta Encontrarles Lagos de Moreno” discovered ten bodies in a clandestine grave at the ex-hacienda San Bernardo in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco. This site, used by organized crime, was uncovered following anonymous tips. The grave also contained bones and other anatomical segments, highlighting the brutality of the crimes committed there.

The Searching Mothers, a group dedicated to locating missing persons, led the efforts to uncover the grave. They have been instrumental in demanding continued investigations from municipal, state, and federal authorities. The discovery has brought attention to the ongoing crisis of disappearances in Mexico, where families often take on the responsibility of searching for their loved ones.

The ex-hacienda San Bernardo, now abandoned, has become a grim symbol of the violence plaguing the region. The collective has also shared pre-identification details of some victims through social media, offering hope to families seeking closure.

This case underscores the challenges faced by search collectives and the urgent need for systemic solutions to address the epidemic of disappearances and violence in Mexico. The Searching Mothers continue their work, uncovering graves and advocating for justice in a country where impunity often prevails.
