Sayulita: water sports, surf, yoga and a nightlife hot spot in the heart of Nayarit

3

A few years ago, Sayulita joined the Magical Towns Program for its legends, charm, the beauty of its beaches, and its colorful corners on every corner. And it’s no wonder, Sayulita has it all, a vibe that makes you fall in love and a wave of love and peace 24/7. Today it is the destination and home of choice for Mexicans and foreigners from all over the world.

Sayulita is the cradle of surfing in the Riviera Nayarit and, if you are a lover of this sport, you can’t miss it. It is ideal for learning and practicing surfing due to its beaches for beginners with its fun and consistent waves throughout the year. The best season for surfing is from December to April.

In addition, it hosts many surfing tournaments: Pacific Music Festival Open Surf Tournament, and Annual Longboard Surf Tournament, among others. If you want to take surf lessons, we recommend the Lunazul Surf School or the complete surf tour offered by Hostel Casa Pepe Sayulita to La Lancha, a beach ideal for beginners and intermediate levels (approximately US$40, includes board and class).

Yoga is also not far behind. Sayulita is ideal for living an extraordinary experience on a yoga retreat or the famous retreats. Ideal for disconnecting and reconnecting with yourself surrounded by nature and the Pacific. Several supermarkets offer lodging, meals made with organic products, walks, yoga sessions, meditation, and spiritual talks.

On Avenida Revolución is Plaza Sayulita, the picturesque main square, full of life, flavors, and color. Here you will find the famous arch and, right next to it, the sought-after letters of Sayulita for a nice postcard-style photo.

Visit its local craft stalls. If you’re looking for more art, the Sayulita People’s Market opens every Friday with a great offering of fresh and organic produce, crafts, and even live music. It’s open every Friday from November to April, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It’s located on Revolución Avenue, just on the north side of the bridge.

Sayulita is a nightlife hot spot, with Fridays being all about cumbias at the Camarón Beach Club. If you prefer craft beer, head to YamBak or El Ático for live music, both of which are packed every night!
