Riviera Nayarit: 300 kilometers of pristine beaches along the Mexican Pacific coast

With more than 300 kilometers of virgin coastline, the western coast of Mexico offers micro-destinations ranging from charming coastal towns to mountains, giant waves, luxury hotels, Huichol ceremonies, and natural sanctuaries.

The Mexican Pacific is in the spotlight and with good reason. In recent years it has gained great importance in terms of tourism for being an idyllic destination with dream beaches and cultural wealth.

The Riviera Nayarit is a destination that also has a cultural legacy that is worth knowing. We welcome you to a unique destination, where the energy and influence of the Huichol, the main indigenous tribe of the State of Nayarit, will captivate you from the first moment.

The beaches you must visit in Nayarit:

Playa de Barro: this hidden paradise beach is a natural spa where you will find mud to use as a “natural exfoliant” on the entire body. It’s just 8 minutes from San Pancho and you can get there by car, but then you’ll have to walk a little bit through the middle of nature to get there. It’s worth the adventure.

Playa Los Muertos: just 8 minutes from downtown Sayulita, you’ll come across a spectacular beach, with a furious turquoise blue tone. Passing through a path that crosses the tombs of the Sayulita cemetery, you’ll arrive at this super relaxed beach, ideal for the whole family. Because of the transparency of the water, it’s perfect for surfing or snorkeling.

Playa La Lancha: this is the ideal beach to take your first steps in the world of surfing. Several shops in town rent boards and also offer surf lessons. Did you know that to get to this beach you have to walk through a sanctuary of loose crocodiles?

Playa Carricitos: ideal for lovers of hiking through the jungle. It’s located 2 km east of Sayulita and you can go on foot, by bike, or by golf cart. The beach is a dream, surrounded by huge rocks and black sand. You have to be careful with the tide, there are days when it is very strong.

Malpaso Beach: located between Sayulita and San Pancho, you can access it by walking from any of the towns mentioned along the seashore. The walk is easy and begins in the jungle, where you will see the beach from above offering impressive views. It is ideal to bring plenty of water and something to eat because there are no beach bars.
