The reptile was seized on Ernesto Coppel Campaña Avenue, before the Cerritos area.

A crocodile was captured on Ernesto Coppel Campaña Avenue, near a condominium complex, after neighbors alerted authorities about its presence.

The animal was in a busy area, which represented a risk for pedestrians and pets.

Firefighters went to the scene and secured the reptile, preventing it from moving towards the road or entering any private property. Its size and location made the maneuver difficult, but they finally managed to contain it.

Once immobilized, the crocodile was transferred to the Mazatlán Aquarium for an evaluation.

Authorities have not reported whether the specimen arrived on its own from some mangrove area or if it was released in the area.

This is the third case of dangerous reptiles that have been seen roaming the streets of Mazatlán, two crocodiles and one alligator.

Recommendations in case of encountering a crocodile:

  • Don’t go near the animal.
  • Don’t try to hit it, kick it, or attack it in any way.
  • Call the emergency number 911.
  • The population is advised to immediately report any sighting of wildlife to avoid risks and allow for timely intervention.
