On Friday, January 24, the United States government announced the dismantling of a transnational drug trafficking network that operated along the common border between Mexico and Arizona, thanks to the joint work between the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).
The US Department of Justice detailed that the operation was carried out last week in Nogales, Sonora, where Jairo Heriberto ‘N’, leader of the organization, and another member, Jesús ‘N’, were arrested by Mexican authorities.
In the operation, four vehicles, two properties, two firearms, and a large quantity of fentanyl pills, as well as other substances, were seized.
“This is part of an Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) operation. OCDETF identifies, disrupts, and dismantles the highest-level criminal organizations that threaten the United States through a multi-agency, prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven approach,” the U.S. government said in a statement.
