The Navy (Semar) reported the seizure of one ton of marijuana in two days, in actions carried out in cities of Veracruz and Quintana Roo.
The largest was carried out in coordination with the Maritime Customs, in the Port Enclosure of Veracruz, where they found approximately 572.60 kilograms of presumed marijuana, as well as cannabis seeds, which were hidden inside columns of quarry stone.
Thus, with the support of personnel from the First Naval Region, it was possible to prevent the export of said narcotics, which were located in an inspection of an export counter.
“They detected an incidence in merchandise declared as a column of quarry stone, being positioned four pallets with merchandise; during said inspection with a K-9 team of the Navy and canine sensor of the Customs, which had behavior modification,” detailed the agency.
“A scan was subsequently carried out, showing an impact on its density and the images analyzed, and a more thorough inspection was scheduled at the Assignee of the Integral Foreign Trade Corporation (CICE), where 16 inspected columns were destroyed, and marijuana and cannabis seeds were observed inside,” he added.
The seized items were made available to the competent authorities for the integration of the corresponding investigation file.
In another event, Semar personnel in collaboration with authorities from the three levels of government, within the framework of the “Security Strategy of the first 100 days”, through the Interinstitutional Task Force (FTI) 100 Days “Benito Juárez”, arrested two people and seized a vehicle with suspected drugs in Cancún, Quintana Roo
This action, he specified, was carried out during ground surveillance tours for crime prevention, in the “Los Héroes” subdivision, when FTI personnel detected two male persons on board a vehicle, so they proceeded to carry out an inspection.
In the unit, they found a long weapon, five loaded magazines, and 30 packages containing green grass with characteristics similar to marijuana with an approximate weight of 14.5 kilograms each, approximately 435 kg in total.
As well as four packages containing the same grass, three telephones, and a gram scale.
“It is important to note that the detained persons, whose human rights were respected at all times, as well as the vehicle and effects seized, were transferred to the facilities of the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Quintana Roo to be made available and to be integrated into the corresponding investigation file,” said the Navy.
Other actions reported by the Semar were the arrest of six people and the seizure of a motorcycle and a vehicle, in which 26 cigarettes of presumed marijuana, 214 doses of white powder, as well as 113 doses of granular and crystalline substance with characteristics similar to crystal, 39 pills of probable methamphetamine and a communication device were found in Mazatlán, Sinaloa.
