Police sources confirmed that it was Rogelio Escobedo, a lemon businessman owner of a packing plant in Nueva Italia, who died on the spot.
On Saturday, November 30th, around 9 in the morning, a shooting was reported on the Apatzingán-4 caminos highway, near “El Ceñidor”, according to the first reports, one person died and another was injured.
Police sources confirmed that the deceased was Rogelio Escobedo, a lemon businessman owner of a packing plant in Nueva Italia, Michoacan, who died on the spot.
The injured person was transferred by air to a hospital in the capital of Michoacán, so far his health status and identity are unknown.
Just two days ago, the businessmen asked the Mexican Army to strengthen the security operation in the lemon farms region, they assured that the extortions continue and have never ended, and they detail that despite the police presence, the citrus businessmen are still forced to pay a protection fee.
