In Tabasco, Morena members attack each other with daggers, knives, and projectiles.
The situation is getting tough in Tabasco. Governor Javier May’s accusations against Hernán Bermúdez, who was the head of Public Security in the governments of Adán Augusto López and his substitute, Carlos Merino, have raised the political struggle in Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador’s home state.
According to Governor Javier May, Bermúdez was precisely the commander of “La Barredora”, the criminal group that has devastated the state. That is to say, the head of the Police would be one of the main criminals in the state.
La Barredora (“The Sweeper Truck”) is a criminal gang based in Southern Mexico. The criminal group came into existence during the rapid decentralization of Mexico’s drug trafficking organizations and as a split-off group of the Beltrán-Leyva Cartel.
May has not hidden his differences with former Secretary of the Interior Adán Augusto; and has exhibited the chaos that both he and Merino left him in the state government of Tabasco.
This explains why on Thursday, November 14, AMLO’s son, Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, who does not usually speak at Morena’s public events, spoke at a party meeting in the capital, Villahermosa, to call for unity among the members of Morena in Tabasco.
However, it is clear that Governor Javier May will continue to question officials from the administration that preceded him.
