Map of the 186 Native Peoples in Mexico City

4

The Clarion Project redistributes the organization of Mexico City in this map, presenting it divided into 186 native peoples instead of the well-known colonies and delegations.

This map assigns each zone a name and meaning that reflects the original history and topography, from Tenochtitlán, the emblematic “place of Tenoch,” to Zacatenco, “on the edge of the grass.”

Recognizing this geographic and linguistic diversity that underlies the city is a step toward appreciating and reconnecting with the cultural roots of the Valley of Anáhuac.
