The public transport that connects the State of Mexico with Mexico City notified that it will reimburse the money to the affected people.

After a suspension of service occurred on a section of the Suburban Train last Friday, November 1 – Day of the Dead – due to a short circuit, different users on social networks asked what was the cause of this failure.

According to information published by Suburban Railways after the incident, it indicated that it was something technical generated by external causes.

This short circuit occurred at the Cuautitlán station, in the direction of Buenavista, around 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1.

In the first instance, through the X account of the Suburban Train, it was notified about an electrical failure, due to which the service was suspended on the section from Lechería to Cuautitlán and vice versa. For this reason, service was only provided at four of its stations: Buenavista, Fortuna, Tlalnepantla, and San Rafael.

Meanwhile, Ferrocarriles Suburbanos indicated that a short circuit was recorded in the catenary of the Suburban Train, which affected the pantograph, causing the short circuit and causing the suspension of the service.

Subsequently, the catenary in the Cuautitlán section broke and security protocols were activated to evacuate users.

According to information from the Government of the State of Mexico, the evacuation of 1,900 passengers was recorded. Likewise, it reported that no injured people were reported after the incident.

What is a catenary that caused the short circuit of the Suburban Train

Catenaries are electric cables. These help generate current and the respective units of the Suburban Train have movement.

It was also reported that the short circuit also caused damage to a pantograph, which is an articulated system on the train that helps it slide.

This slide is on the catenary and helps transfer electricity from the overhead contact lines to the train.

The service was restored hours later after the work was carried out by the corresponding emergency personnel.
