“If you take the main Mexican drug cartels, turn them upside down, and shake them, López Obrador would fall out of his pockets”: John Kennedy declared

US Senator John Neely Kennedy affirmed during the appearance of the director of the FBI, Christopher Wray, that “if you take the main Mexican drug cartels, turn them upside down and shake them, (Andrés Manuel) López Obrador would fall out of his pockets,” in reference to an alleged link between the Mexican government and organized crime.

The senator’s statement comes after he asked Christopher Wray about how the cooperation between Mexico and the United States is going in the fight against drug trafficking, to which the official responded that there have been some successes, but that they need to do more.

John Kennedy proposed last week to use the trade agreement between Mexico, the United States, and Canada (USMCA / T-MEC) to work on the fight against drug trafficking and thus encourage the neighboring countries to work on the issue.

Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Christopher A. Wray stated: “We need much, much more than we are getting from the Mexican government.”

During the hearing, the FBI director said that both the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) are the drivers of drug trafficking in the United States, so he reiterated “We need more from the Mexican government.”
