Following the summer break, Red Bull Racing decided to confirm Sergio Perez‘s position within the team. After a promising weekend for the driver in Azerbaijan, a bizarre rumour came to light in Mexico, which says ‘Checo’ would rather leave the competition at the end of the year to spend more time with his family. Top advisor Helmut Marko reacted to these rumours.

Even as a DNF will show on Sergio Perez’s report card, the Mexican was fighting for a podium in Baku last weekend. Unluckily for the Mexican, he crashed out with Carlos Sainz on the penultimate lap, gifting P3 to George Russell and Mercedes.

“This is the first time I have heard this,” Marko laughed at Kronen Zeitung. “But his wife is expecting their fourth child, an interesting alternative.”

Not only Perez’s will become a father for the fourth time Perez’s father, Antonio Perez Garibay suffered a heart attack during the Azerbaijan GP, and he had to be taken to the hospital, but he is now back home.

Perez signed a multi-year deal with Red Bull Racing this year, which was announced during the Canadian Grand Prix weekend. The Mexican has a seat with the team next season, and then the Austrians could claim his second year of the deal. A year ago, when Perez was also rumoured to retire early, the driver stated he wanted to continue for another three or four years.
