In Cancun Quintana Roo, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, accompanied by President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Governor Mara Lezama, assured that there would be no economic instability with the judicial reform.

AMLO made this statement during the inauguration of the Jaguar Park and the Museum of Oriental Culture on an ecological reserve of more than one thousand hectares and an investment of 1.6 billion pesos.

He stressed that his opponents “are trying to confuse the people of Mexico by stating that there is economic instability due to judicial reform.

“They are afraid because what we want is to banish corruption,” AMLO said.

He declared that the objective of this reform is for the people to decide who would occupy the position of judges in the country since it is the only position that is not under popular vote as happens with municipal authorities, representatives, senators, governors, and the head of the Executive.

Obrador stressed that the Mexican peso was not devalued during his administration, compared to previous governments, so the economy would not suffer from this reform.
