An air taxi, whose flight plan was from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel, suffered a failure that resulted in the sinking of the plane.
A small plane crashed into the sea off Casitas Beach, on the Island of Cozumel, in Quintana Roo just north of the airport.

The pilot, Samuel Menache Contreras, 28 years old, was the only occupant aboard the Cesna small plane with registration XATD206. Menache Contreras only had a nervous breakdown and was treated by Life Ambulance 134.

The causes of the accident are still uncertain, but it is presumed that the aircraft was trying to land when it suffered the accident and fell into the sea. The information is being processed and it is expected that as the hours pass, more details about this accident will be released.
The aircraft fell in front of Playa Casitas, approximately 150 meters from the runways of the Military Air Base airport.
Some sources indicate that the engine stopped working, which would have caused the collapse.
Navy personnel and water service providers arrived at the scene to assist the aircraft’s pilot.
