With the arrival of cruise ships and the holding of events in the city, the transportation sector is doing well, and they hope to end the year with better demand

MAZATLAN.- The transportation sector, especially the pneumonia sector in Mazatlán, is experiencing a significant rebound thanks to the arrival of congresses and conventions held in the port, as well as the high season for tourist cruises. This has reactivated the demand for services to reach 70 percent.

Mariano Ortega Vizcarra, leader of the Pulmonías Cooperative, highlighted that starting this month, activity is expected to remain at favorable levels, since in the national month a decrease of 40 percent was recorded compared to August.

“Demand had been very calm, but this week it was reactivated due to a series of events and conferences, in addition to the start of the high cruise season,” he noted.

Ortega Vizcarra mentioned that, with the arrival of two cruise ships in the weeks of October, of a total of almost 650 pneumonia units, around 200 provide services mainly in the tourist area. Cruises generate a significant economic benefit during their stay in the city.

He pointed out that this reactivation is reflected in all sectors directly linked to tourist activity, such as restaurants, bars, shops and transportation. It is an important boost that is given in these first days of the cruise season.

Likewise, he emphasized that demand in the transport sector will increase by more than 70 percent, since during the weekends there is also a good flow of national visitors who arrive at the port and usually look for a pneumonia to walk the pier.

Regarding expectations for the end of 2023, Ortega Vizcarra expressed optimism: “It will be a very positive end to the year for Pulmonias drivers, and we hope that 2024 will begin in the same way.”
