“El Chapo’s” wife Emma Coronel, released from prison in Texas

Emma Coronel, the wife of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, was released from prison in Forth Worth, Texas, where she was being held after being convicted in 2021 for drug trafficking and money laundering.

According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, she is in a halfway house in Los Angeles, California, where she will serve the rest of her sentence, after which she is expected to be released on September 13, 2023.

Coronel was sentenced to three years after reaching a collaboration agreement with the authorities and pleading guilty to three charges.

The wife of the former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel was accused of being his messenger, managing drug trafficking properties, and colluding with Guzmán’s children to allow his escape from the Altiplano Prison in 2015.
