The number of cases of dengue decreases in Yucatan

Although Yucatán continues to be the second state in the Mexican Republic with the most cases of dengue, the number of new cases per day has decreased, since until just over a month ago the incidence of three infections every 24 hours, but now it is two.

According to the epidemiological bulletin of the Dengue Epidemiological Surveillance System of the Federal Health Secretariat, until week 18, with a cut-off of May 8, the State had a record of 390 cases of this disease in 128 days of the present year, that is, every 24 hours two new patients were detected.

Although the incidence of new cases per day decreased, the State ranked second at the national level in all the patients detected to date, only below Quintana Roo, which reported 1,044 patients, while in third place nationwide was the state of Veracruz, with 214 cases until May 8.

Of the 390 patients in the entity, 162 were cases corresponding to non-severe dengue, 216 to dengue cases with alarm signs, and 12 cases were severe dengue, but to date, no deaths from this disease had been reported, something that had happened twice in Quintana Roo and once in Veracruz.

The document revealed that Santa Elena is the community with the highest incidence rate in the State of non-severe dengue cases per 100,000 inhabitants, with 114.13 percent, followed by Cuncunul, with 112.87 percent, followed by Umán, with 18.56. percent and Progress, with 9.22 percent.
