The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, asked compatriots and migrants from other countries in the United States not to vote for Republican Senator John Neely Kennedy after the insults he launched at Mexico.

“Just tell our compatriots in the United States, Mexican compatriots, Latin Americans, Hispanics, and also American friends, that when it comes to voting, don’t vote for candidates like this Senator Kennedy,” he said.

The president regretted that the Republican shares a last name with the family of John F. Kennedy, who, he assured, always maintained a relationship of respect with Mexico.

“Tell our countrymen, Hispanics, American friends, not to vote for people with this mentality, very arrogant, very offensive, very foolish, that whoever has a migrant grandparent, a migrant parent, or who has come to the United States as a migrant, I could not support these attitudes ”, he insisted.

López Obrador dismissed as vulgar and coarse the statements that Republican Senator John Kennedy made last Wednesday in which he assured that Mexico “would be eating cat food from a can and living in a tent in a backyard” without the support of the United States.

These statements were made during the hearing of the director of the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), in which the issue of combating drug trafficking was addressed.
