Aeromexico has received two new aircraft. The new planes are part of the company’s expansion plan. Aeromexico has added its fifth Boeing 737 MAX to its current fleet, making it the fourth largest operator of the latest narrow-body family of the U.S. manufacturer.
The airline had also added another Boeing 787 Dreamliner to its inventory, making it number 20. Both planes were delivered to the airline at the Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX) in Mexico City within the last three weeks.
On March 30, the 787-9 took off from Charleston International Airport (CHS), South Carolina, where the plane’s production facility is located.
The aircraft will join Aeromexico’s operating fleet in the coming weeks. The 787s operate long-haul flights between Mexico and South America, Asia, and Europe. They are also used to cover high-density routes.
The airline’s latest Boeing 737 MAX 9 took off Friday from Seattle-Boeing Field Airport (BFI), arriving at Benito Juárez International Airport nearly five hours later.
In February, manufacturer Boeing carried out several test flights at the Seattle Airport. At least six flights were registered before delivery. All systems and operations of the planes with engineers from the Mexican airline were checked before delivery.
Now with its two newest planes, Aeromexico must complete all the necessary procedures requested by the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) to enter the aircraft into the short and medium-haul flight schedule.
