“This edition is based on a fashion look at the local periphery and the Guadalajara tradition,” declares the platform, and starts with the launch of the campaign, Metropolis, presented with a series of images starring the Ale models . Infante and Ale Aceves, who wear Bulgari jewelry and pieces from the Guadalajara designers that make up the edition.

Who are the Mexican designers presenting collections at Fashion Week Mexico Fall-Winter 2023?

In the Autumn-Winter 2023 edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Mexico, the season’s collections from seven Jalisco firms will be presented, in addition to the special participation of designer Lorena Saravia from Mexico City.

Abel Lopez

The designer from the municipality of Degollado, Jalisco, grew up in a family of 14 siblings and his passion for fashion began with the influence of the dressmaker that his mother had at home to make and repair clothes for the whole family. Abel López formalized his fashion studies at the Bribiesca Art Institute, and worked as chief designer at the André Badi brand. The latter allowed him to expand his horizons and travel to cities such as Shanghai, Tokyo, Paris, Milan and London, in order to have a global perspective of cultures and trends. Since October 2023, he ventured to launch his eponymous brand.

Alfredo Martinez

Described by Paola Palazón and Daniel Herranz in their book Hecha en México as ‘one of the few designers who really thinks of a total look’, Alfredo Martínez draws inspiration from the women in his family to draw silhouettes that have been celebrated in editorials throughout international level and celebrities such as Rosalía, Lana del Rey, Cindy Crawford, Yalitza Aparicio and Anitta, to name a few.

Julia and Renata

Both designers from Guadalajara studied design at the Centro de Diseño de Modas. Since 1993, Julia and Renata Franco have consolidated their own homonymous line, perfecting a mastery in the construction of modern garments, based on textile manipulation, experimentation and transformation. His aesthetic language is clean and minimalist, which is why his garments are distinguished by their timeless capacity. His talent has crossed borders with his presentations on various catwalks in Spain, the United States, Greece, Croatia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Guatemala, and Mexico. As well as in the United Kingdom at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

NoName by Brother

Jonathan Morales, the creative mind behind No Name, can boast of dressing Blackpink’s Rosé, Jisoo and Lisa Manobal, as well as celebrities like Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani and J Balvin, milestones that have stemmed from a long road that began in 2009 with his first brand called Cherry Project.

Paulina Moon

The designer of her eponymous firm, Paulina Luna, has been part of local fashion platforms such as Minerva Fashion and Intermoda, and it is through her tireless work that on this occasion the tapatía is also part of the runway lineup for the week of Mexican fashion.

Toronero

The Jalisco brand based at Calle de Sonora 166 in Mexico City, is one of the firms that represents the denim aesthetic under a totally renewed look. Among its basics are hats, jackets and boots that align with contemporary trends.

Olmos y Flores

The Guadalajara designers Victor Olmos and Ali Daniel Flores have spent more than a decade of experience capturing their ideas and identity in each of the prints that make up their designs. His collection, ‘El pescador’, is crowned as one of the latest milestones of the firm that we will see at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Mexico Fall -Winter 2023.

Lorraine Saravia

The designer, special guest of the Jalisco edition, is one of the most internationally recognized creatives. After completing her studies at the Felicidad Dulce University of Design and Fashion in Barcelona, Lorena Saravia collaborated with different designers, including Macario Jiménez. In 2010 she launched the firm that bears her name and since then she has positioned her designs among strong-willed women who have their eye on a contemporary vision.
