Atlético de Madrid, Sevilla, Betis, and Real Sociedad will compete in a summer tournament in Mexico and the United States, the Spanish league announced on Tuesday, April 11th.

There will be four friendly matches at the beginning of August, the first two in Mexico and the last two in the United States.
Atlético and Real Sociedad will meet on August 2 at the BBVA stadium in Monterrey, while Sevilla and Betis will star in an Andalusian derby that same day at the Akron stadium in Guadalajara. It will be the first time that two teams from the Spanish first division meet in a friendly in Mexico.

The summer tour — called the “La Liga Summer Tour” — will culminate on August 5, with a double day at Oracle Park in San Francisco, where Atlético de Madrid will meet Sevilla and Betis against Real Sociedad.

“ It is a great opportunity to continue attracting new fans in North America through the history and passion of the League” , said Óscar Mayo, Executive General Director of the Spanish tournament in a statement. “ There is a real passion for soccer growing in Mexico and the United States, and we look forward to seizing that opportunity with this tour.”
