Mexican authorities secure in Sinaloa clandestine laboratory where fentanyl was manufactured

The Secretary of National Defense reported that a clandestine laboratory where fentanyl was manufactured was seized in a building in the Amplification del Barrio neighborhood, municipality of Culiacán, Sinaloa. In addition, 120,000 kilos of fentanyl pills and three kilos of heroin were seized, among other things.

The Sedena indicated that on April 6, members of the Mexican Army, the National Guard, personnel from the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), and the Sinaloa Secretary of Public Security seized the drug and the property.

The location of the property in the Ampliación del Barrio neighborhood, municipality of Culiacán, which was used to manufacture fentanyl pills, was thanks to intelligence work, the statement indicated.

The members of the Armed Forces established a security perimeter in the vicinity of the house, where they seized 120,215 kilos of fentanyl pills, 2,861 kilos of fentanyl powder, 37 kilos of paste with possible fentanyl, and three kilos of heroin.

As well as 80 liters of methanol, 25 kilos of sorbitol, a mixing machine, and a tablet press. “The insured was made available to the competent authorities, in order to carry out the corresponding investigations and expert actions,” Sedena said in a statement.
