Due to its geographical location, Mexico is continually exposed to this type of seismic event.

A 4.2-magnitude tremor with a depth of 25 kilometers took the residents of the city of Tonalá by surprise at 4:28 a.m. local time, on Sunday, April 9.

The movement had as its epicenter 117 km southwest of said town in the state of Chiapas, according to preliminary information from the National Seismological Service (SSN).

In the face of significant seismic activity, the National Center for Disaster Prevention (Cenapred) recommends not falling for rumors or false news and only seeking information from official sources, such as Civil Protection authorities, both local and state, as well as federal.
