Taste Atlas, the famous gastronomic guide, obtained claims after publishing a list with the hottest chili in the world, which surprisingly is not Mexican.

Through his Twitter account, followed by almost 50,000 people, Taste Atlas released a controversial top with the 35 hottest chili peppers in the world.

The most significant thing is that Taste Atlas did not care much about the Mexican gastronomic tradition and did not give the first place on its list to one of the many hot chili peppers that are consumed in our country.

It should be noted that to make its ranking, Taste Atlas used the Scoville scale, a famous measure used to measure the level of spiciness between one chili and another.

The hottest chili in the world is not Mexican; It’s America’s Pepper X

According to the list published by Taste Atlas, the hottest chili in the world is Pepper X from the United States.

Even though Mexico did not obtain the first place in the Taste Atlas list, 8 Mexican chili peppers are among the hottest in the world.

The Mexican chili that obtained the best position in the ranking made by Taste Atlas was the habanero, which came in fifth place just below countries such as the United Kingdom and India.

The positions obtained by the other spicy foods from Mexico in the top of Taste Atlas were:

Chile piquín place 8

Chile de árbol place 9

Serrano Chile the 10th place

Serrano Chile the 12th place

Chile morron the 18th place

Chile puya with place 29

Chile poblano with the place 33

List of the hottest chili in the world of Taste Atlas provokes claims in social networks

Like any list, the publication of the hottest chili in the world by Taste Atlas, was not without controversy on social networks.

Many users couldn’t believe that the hottest chili wasn’t Mexican and they complained to Taste Atlas.

Of course, there was no shortage of one or another user who demanded that morita or chipotle chili be included in the list, instead of the bell pepper that, as we know, is not hot at all.

The complaints towards Taste Atlas did not come only from Mexicans, but users of other nationalities expressed their annoyance for not considering their gastronomic tradition of spicy foods.
