On Tuesday, February 14, 2023, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) would have received around seven million dollars for an electoral campaign from the hands of the operator of the Sinaloa Cartel, Jesús “Rey” Zambada, as revealed in the trial against the former Secretary of Security Public, Genaro Garcia Luna.

The famous lawyer for the “super police officer”, César de Castro, proceeded to cross-examine this Tuesday and asked Zambada to recall one of the statements he made before US prosecutors in 2013 when he allegedly said that he paid the now president López Obrador through an operator named Gabriel Regino.

Despite the question and the attitude of García Luna’s defense, “Rey” Zambada denied the fact and assured that he never said that 10 years ago, when he was extradited to the United States for the crime of drug trafficking.

” Did he pay AMLO 7 million or not for his campaign against Vicente Fox?” De Castro asked the witness at the appearance.

When the defender mentioned the name of Gabriel Regino, Zambada explained that it was for a campaign, but not for the current president Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO).

“They said it was for a political campaign, but not for López Obrador,” explained “El Rey” and accused the lawyer of trying to force him to declare something against the President of the Republic.

After the prosecutors were annoyed by the actions of César de Castro, who heads the defense of García Luna, Judge Brian Cogan met with him and the prosecutors to calm things down in the trial against the former Secretary of Security.

Subsequently, the name of President López Obrador was not mentioned again, although questions continued to “Rey” Zambada about whether he was sure that he had delivered bribes on behalf of the Sinaloa Cartel to Genaro García Luna.
