Mexican armed forces pay homage to Proteo, the rescue dog that died in Turkey (VIDEO)

Mexican rescue teams gathered in Turkey to pay homage to a rescue dog who died on duty.

The ceremony took place in Adiyaman, Turkey.

His name was Proteo, he was Belgian Sheperd and was part of the rescue team sent by Mexico to help find survivors in Turkey.

Local media said he helped locate two live earthquake victims during his stay in Turkey.

Red Cross, army, and navy teams thanked Proteo for his service with a ceremony.

Proteo was one of 16 dogs that traveled from Mexico to support the rescue efforts.
