A serious accident occurred Friday on the Merida-Cancun highway, near the bus stop in this place, after a bus of the company Oriente was rear-ended by a trailer loaded with “pallets”, causing several people to be pinned and trapped between the iron bars of the vehicles, resulting in the death of one person and 34 injured.
The passenger truck ended up overturned and fell on low ground at road level, causing several people to become trapped and others were trapped and awaiting rescue.
After several hours, there was no official word on the reason for the collision. The injured were transported from this municipality in the center of the state to Merida to be admitted to IMSS hospitals.
Personnel from the Fire Department, State Police, Municipal Police, Red Cross, and National Guard went to the site in support of rescuing the people trapped at the site.
Most of the passengers suffered injuries ranging from minor to serious, but officially only one fatality was reported as a result of the serious accident.
