Initially, the conferences had a 72 percent approval rating.

Less than half of Mexican men and women have a favorable opinion of these daily events, according to a new survey by El Financiero.

The survey reveals that 42 percent of the people consulted have a positive opinion of the ‘morning’ in January 2023, five years after they began.

Opinions favorable to the famous ‘circular dialogue’ , as the president calls it, have been on the decline for months. In September 2022 the acceptance of ‘las mañaneras’ was at 51 percent, while in October it fell to 46 percent.

By comparison, in January 2019 AMLO’s conferences had an acceptance of 72 percent, a month after he took the Presidency of Mexico. Since then, approval has dropped month after month and fluctuated between 69 percent (February 2019) and 42 percent (January 2023), according to survey data from El Financiero.

Disapproval of AMLO’s “mañaneras” reaches the highest level of the six-year term in January 2023

President López Obrador gives his morning conference from Monday to Friday, which starts between 7 and 7:30 a.m. and ends between 9 and 10:30 a.m., on average. That is, some of the lectures last up to 3 hours.

In addition, the president has raised on several occasions the possibility of doing ‘mañaneras’ on weekends too.

“Saturdays and Sundays. Why not? The conservatives and their spokesmen take advantage of the weekend. So, I’m going to think about it because the information is very important, ”AMLO said on October 6, 2022.
