This will be the first “green comet” phenomenon to occur in the last 50,000 years.

One of the most interesting and beautiful phenomena that space offers us is the appearance of comets, since some of them can be seen from Earth and in a few days, the “green comet” will be passing;  we tell you when, where and at what time it will happen in Mexico.

The last time a green comet was “close” to Planet Earth was 50,000 years ago, that is, in the stage of homo sapiens when humanity was just beginning to develop.

The comet’s passage was discovered in California, United States last year thanks to the “Zwicky Transient Facility” (ZTF) program, who have observed and analyzed the trajectory of the comet, which is a small icy and rocky body barely 1 kilometer long of diameter.

How to see the green comet live?

You can watch the live broadcast of the comet on the Virtual Telescope Project website 24 hours a day, highlighting that it can first be seen in the northern hemisphere of the planet.

When and at what time is the comet seen in Mexico?

According to the studies, the green comet will have its closest approach to Earth on February 1, only 42 million kilometers away, but that will be enough for it to be seen from anywhere in Mexico, if the weather conditions permit a clear or dark skies.

The ideal time to see it will be at 3:27 in the morning (Central Mexico time) on February 1 and 2, although especially on the 1st. It can be seen with the naked eye, although you can also use binoculars or some telescope to see it better.
