Mexico-Merida among the five main domestic air routes during 2022

Air cargo movement in Mexico from January to November of last year was 1,048,807.2 tons, which meant a growth of 1.8% compared to the same period of 2021 when 1,030,415.1 tons were recorded.

According to data from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), such a result is due to the fact that domestic cargo decreased by 2.2% year-on-year, going from 355,214 tons to 347,453.8 tons.

The AFAC stated that among the five main domestic routes are Mexico-Guadalajara, Tijuana-Mexico, San Luis Potosi-Mexico, Monterrey-Mexico, and Mexico-Merida.

The international market registered an increase of 3.9% compared to the same period, with an increase of 26,152.3 tons to 701,353 tons.

Despite the overall growth, there were several decreases in the main routes, with the Los Angeles-Guadalajara route suffering a 35.3% decrease. Only two destinations increased their movement.

During this period, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) and the airports called corporations were the ones with a 5.7% and 2.4% decrease.

Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares (ASA) and Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (Asur) grew 129.3% and 26.6%, as did Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte (OMA) with 11.8% and Mexico City International Airport (AICM) with 0.4%.
