The federal president said that his administration and that of the Sinaloa government are working so that normality returns to the entity as soon as possible.

This morning, the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, highlighted the coordination and work of the Armed Forces that yesterday carried out an operation to arrest Ovidio Guzmán López, one of the sons of Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán, former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel.

At a press conference from the National Palace, the federal president said that his administration and that of the Sinaloa government are working so that normality returns to the entity as soon as possible.

During her speech, the Secretary of Public Security, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, assured that on Thursday the government’s way of acting was demonstrated, by privileging intelligence and pointed out that “we have not come to win a war, we have come to build peace .”

The federal official explained that “it was a coordinated action where strategy and intelligence were the fundamental weapons to meet the objective of removing the generators of violence that impede development from the streets.”

On Thursday, January 5th, in an operation by the Armed Forces in Culiacán, Ovidio Guzmán, son of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, was arrested in the Jesús María community, municipality of Culiacán, Sinaloa.

“For the tranquility of the population, especially the population of Sinaloa, we send them our solidarity, our support so that they can recover normality as soon as possible. Everything is being done for that purpose and what is going to be reported has to do with the responsible manner in which they acted to care for the civilian population, that there were no innocent victims,” he stated.

“Fortunately, we had the support of the state government. All of this allowed things to not be more complicated,” said López Obrador.
