Luis Cresencio Sandoval, head of the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena), reported that 10 soldiers lost their lives during the operation in which Ovidio Guzmán “El Ratón” was recaptured, son of drug trafficker Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, and 35 more were injured.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador regretted the human losses caused by the recapture of Ovidio Guzmán, while Sandoval announced that they will receive the honors that correspond to them.

“We are very sorry for the loss of life, of course, those who lost their lives in the line of duty as soldiers and members of the Guard,” said the president.

Derived from the operation, the head of the Sedena explained that there were 19 deaths by the criminal group, 21 people were arrested and four 50-caliber “Barrett” rifles, six 50-caliber machine guns, 26 long weapons, and two short ones, chargers, cartridges, tactical equipment, and 13 vehicles and 40 vans, 26 of which were armored.

The official stressed that no civilians lost their lives during the operation in Culiacán, Sinaloa, in which the target was detained.

As of today, it will be reinforced with a thousand elements to continue operations in Sinaloa and prevent the population from being attacked, said the head of the Sedena.
