Grupo Aeroméxico reported that all flights scheduled for today to the municipalities of Culiacán, Los Mochis and Mazatlán, in Sinaloa, were canceled after reports of shootings, car fires and blockades due to the arrest of Ovidio Guzmán, son of drug trafficker Joaquín El Chapo Guzman.

The airline indicated that due to this situation it will apply its protection policy to travelers.

Volaris and Viva Aerobus also cancel flights

The airlines Volaris and Viva Aerobus reported that they also canceled today’s flights to various cities in Sinaloa, due to the acts of violence reported in the state.

Volaris explained that it suspended flights in Culiacán, Mazatlán and Los Mochis.

While Viva Aerobus indicated that the closure of its flights is to and from the municipalities of Culiacán and Mazatlán.

Since this morning, various acts of violence have been reported in various areas of Sinaloa, for which reason even the state authorities have suspended some activities and asked the inhabitants not to leave their homes.

Likewise, the Culiacán International Airport announced that due to insecurity problems it will be closed from 8:30 in the morning until 10:00 at night.

Aeroméxico extends cancellation of flights in Sonora

Grupo Aeroméxico extended the cancellation of its operations momentarily in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, as a measure to guarantee the safety of passengers.
