Sixth wave of COVID was predicted since September

The Pan American Health Organization said since September that Mexico would experience a new outbreak of COVID, this after the authorities reduced infection prevention measures.

The organization’s director of health emergencies, Ciro Ugarte, said that “every time the measures and recommendations against COVID have been relaxed, there has been an increase in cases, and when this transmission is very high in certain areas it leads to an increase in hospitalizations and deaths.

The reason for the rebound in COVID in Mexico is the celebrations between November and early January, such as the Day of the Dead, Christmas and New Year, which together with the cold season lead to an increase in infections.
